Tim Jeffreys Writer

About

Tim Jeffreys grew up on a council estate in north Manchester, and from an early age used writing and drawing as a means of escape. His early attemps at storytelling took the form of comic books until he became frustrated by the amount of time this took. So he launched straight into writing and illustrating a novel, a vampire tale entitled The Riders (now, for better or worst, lost).  Tim attempted further novels, until he began to tap out the story of a orphaned pickpocket named Jake, a character who would stay with him over the years to come, his story eventually taking shape as Thief's Return.  After making it to University and completing a degree in Graphic Arts Tim decided, after much encouragement, to sideline the artwork and make writing his main focus.  This would take some explaining in the years to come.  By now, though, he had been introduced to the idea of the very short story and he started to produce these in tandem with his longer work.

That his short stories seem normal and nautral to him is perhaps some indication of his skewed and unusual perspective on life. He draws on elements of horror, fairytale, and black comedy in order to explore the darker side of the human condition and find the ridiculous at the heart of everyday reality.

Tim had been encouraged to produce his first audio book of short stories at University. He continued, with the help of various actors, to produce these and has now successfully sold these worldwide. He now also has print books available: two books of short stories The Garden Where Black Flowers Grow and The Scenery of Dreams, and his short novella The Orange Grove.

Tim now lives in the South West of England, where he continues to write short stories and work on his novels. He enjoys collaborations and is always on the lookout to combine his writing with the creative talents of others.
